Quantum state tomography is a process that can observe quantum entanglement

Quantum state tomography (QST) is a powerful tool, but it doesn't directly observe entanglement. Here's how they are related:

QST's job: It focuses on understanding a single quantum system's state. This state is described by a density matrix, which captures all the information about the system's probabilities of being in different states. QST uses multiple measurements on identical copies of the system to reconstruct this density matrix.

Entanglement detection: While QST doesn't directly detect entanglement, the reconstructed density matrix can reveal entanglement. By analyzing the density matrix's properties, scientists can determine if the system is entangled with another.

In simpler terms, QST is like taking a detailed picture of a single quantum system. This picture can then be analyzed to see if the system is intertwined (entangled) with another system.
